How NOVA Supports Its Activities |
||
Since its establishment as a non-profit corporation in 2004, NOVA Hope for Haiti, Inc. has been funded entirely from the private sector as a recipient of direct gifting. NOVA has a proud 100% board member contribution program that is annual. In addition, three significant donations have been made through the proceeds of a Citizen Recognition Award, a Personal Tithing commitment and one Family Bequest. NOVA hosts at least one major Fund-Raising Gala per year and has recently made plans to increase this to three. Now that the construction phase of our initiative is close at hand and construction budgeting is becoming available, we are actively seeking Public and Private Grants for our capitalization and the maintenance of our various health and related educational programs. We are members of the on-line database maintained by The Foundation Center, Inc., New York City, and our grant seekers use this source of reference and enhance their knowledge by enrolling in the Center’s varied monthly seminars. In the United States, however, it is private sector funding that remains the mainstay of all non-profit income and, in fact, contributes statistically to greater than 80% of revenues for organizations such as NOVA Hope for Haiti. Lastly, NOVA’s campus in Cavaillon will be made available for other interested third parties to use if they choose to coordinate their own philanthropic interests, coordinating with the expertise and the facilities that NOVA. will make available. This option will provide an active income from the campus being constructed and offer to these third parties the benefit of NOVA’s expertise, a clinic with built-in living quarters and an active and needy patient base that would be treated during one or two-week medical missions by travelling physician teams.
